2010 is here!! The new year can't be worse than 2009, we trust. Ars Lunga, Vita Brevis!
The new transcription of music by Brahms. Samuel Baron's remarkable version of Brahms' String Quartet in a minor, is doing well. This was made for the New York Wind Quintet in the 70's; this is the first publication. This work is long, and is serious music. However it is a major addition to the wind quintet repertoire; the oboe plays english horn in movements 1 & 2.
Those dealers who subscribe to "New Issues" have this in hand since about Nov.1. Other new titles include music by Mozart (a most successful transcription for Double Wind Quintet of the Symphonia Concertante), and a careful re-editing of ShubertShadow by Stewart.
